When we need to diagnose what’s wrong with your pet, we often use x-rays to help identify the issue, rule out potential causes, or create a list of possible conditions. We may also use x-rays during routine wellness exams to detect any potential problems before they become serious.
X-rays provide valuable insights into a pet’s bones, gastrointestinal system (including the stomach, intestines, and colon), respiratory system (lungs), heart, and genitourinary system (bladder, prostate). We use radiology on its own or alongside other diagnostic tools. Interpreting these images requires a high level of skill and expertise from our veterinarians.
We’re proud to offer digital radiology, which uses digital technology to capture x-rays instead of traditional film. This advanced technology allows for faster diagnoses and uses less radiation than conventional x-rays.
To ensure clear, accurate images, pets need to stay completely still during the x-ray. In some cases, we may need to sedate your pet or use short-acting anesthesia.
If you have any questions about our radiology services or what to expect during your pet’s procedure, please feel free to ask.
